Boiler level control

I've been tasked with repairing a high pressure steam boiler
The system uses a 157s LWC and a Mcdonnel miller phc liquid level controller.
The electrodes(2) rotted of the sensor base.
I have purchased 2 new sensors and rods.
Is their a general rule as to their length?
How much should they be staggered to achieve accurated pump control.
I should add this set up only controls one feed pump.
The boiler is manfactured by bryan.
If anyone has some thoughts Id appreciate it.
