What kind of anode rod was in the rheem hotwater heater and what kind of anode rod did you replace it with? This refers back to the message I posted about air in hotwater heater over a doctors office. You said you had simular problem over a lawyers office.

    Anodes

JR, It wasn't me either but maybe i can shed some light. Most waterheater Mfg.'s today use aluminum anodes which most of the time do not cause a problem. We always removed them years ago when they were made out of magneisium, it produced hydrogen-sulfide gas as it reacted with some waters = rotten egg smell and if enough time had elapsed (air)in the system. Highly flamable air if you will.
    The best to you.

I did'nt respond about a lawyers office but I did tell you I had the same problem.

Mine was a electric hot water heater that came from the factory with a magnesium rod. The customer had well water and later told me he had a problem with manganese.

After about three weeks he started getting a gas build up an first draw and some faucets had a milky look from the build up of gas. Funny some airators can stop or cause this problem.

We changed to a aluminum rod with no problems so far, but thats only been about two weeks. I'll let you know.

We've had this problem before and the remedy was changing the rod.

I had this rod at the shop and was going to posta picture. It was quite pitted and covered in a white powdery build up.
