Electric snowmelt?

A guy called me and wants to melt just 50 square feet in front of the door for his 80 year old mother.

After we talk awhile I realize he's not just talking electric heat source, but an entire electric system.
He's "sure it will work if we just double up the coils."

I told him I'd honestly never heard of using electric Outside. I guess the BTU load would only be about 7350 which should come out to about 2 KW.

So how about it, does anyone have any experience with this, and where would be a good place to buy the electric cable? If Wirsbo doesn't sell something, I'm kinda lost.

There's no way he's going to buy a "real system" with tubing. I did one for a school in his area, but he is really wanting the electric. Thanks guys, and have a great weekend. Kevin

Check with your local prefab step supplier. Shawnee makes prefab stairs and stuff with electric snowmelt systems. they should be able to help. Any good electrical supply house should have that info too.
We installed some at our church years ago and they worked fine.

My company Radiant Heat Supply 610-466-0500 handles a company called Calorique which offers electric snowmelt systems consisting of electic mats in various widths based on the size of area. Prices are POA with drawing showing area to be melted.
