Heat Trol MOV vs. Tempering Tank Question

Folks, I have a question that I would like you to weigh in on. I'm just a Joe homeowner and would lke to make the best of the system that I have. What I have is a two story 1200sf house with programable t-stats for each floor wired to zone circulators. Between the zones and the boiler is a tempering tank. The boiler has an interal hot water coil. I will be building a basement under my house and relocating the boiler and radiant floor heat controls. I'd like to save the space of the tempering tank. I'm wondering if by replacing the tank with a motorized 3-way valve for each zone, whether I'll see an energy savings worthy of the cost of the valves. FYI my house is located on the coast just south of Boston. TIA Mike
