Dan,
I just finished reading my now collectors item. Great book I loved the whole thing. I only had one question. Why the tragic story on the last page? I know it was a theme throughout the book on the history of steam. Just curious is all.

It touched my heart
and it reminded me of the great responsibility we hold when we work with machines. It's a timeless story.

Well said. I have to agree it did touch my heart as well. I put the book down and just said oh my god. Thanks for the reply0
