Alan has proved what a wonderful and generous man he is. Congratulations on winning the raffle, and for making sure that young minds down the road can be winners with an education.

    We ran

a 50/50 raffle at the NAOHSM convention the other night. We raised nearly $2,500 for the Dave Nelsen Scholarship Fund, which benefits kids in trade schools.

Alan Mercurio won half the money. He had it in his hand - a thick stack of $20s. Then he gives it all back. "It's for education," he says.

    Isn't that a beautiful thing?

If you see Alan, give him a hug.
    Retired and loving it.

Thank you Dan! God Knows you do a lot for our industry and we truly appreciate every bit of it.

As for the Money I consider it to have been a privilege and a blessing from the lord to have an opportunity to give back to the industry that is feeding Toni and I. "Pay it Forward" That's what it's all about right? Of course it is :)

And in the end I got something better then the money. I had the privilege to meet Dave Nelsen's Mom, Wife, Daughter, Brother and Sister. You can't put a price on that!

Also, God Bless all those who contributed to the 50/50 It just shows that Dave continues to live in our hearts & minds and he will forever.

Dave, We love ya big guy.

    Very Impressive

    Alan,
I've never met you but your actions speak louder than any words.
I would only hope that I would be able to do the same thing in your shoes.

Thanks for the kind words. And thank you for sharing your time with my friends and I at NAOHSM this year. we enjoyed having you with us.

By the way I use to own a pair of those Elevator shoes. sometimes I wish I still had them lol like when my daughter Toni is standing beside me she's 13 and as tall as me! Until next year that is.

    Have a great weekend John.

    Alan's gift

Ditto here to Alan for his generosity....I don't want to burst his or anyone elses' bubble, because it was a great thing that he did, but most everyone at that convention would have done the same thing. Many were saying that would probably happen when it did. I am proud to be associated with those kind of people!! What a great time had by all at the convention. Thank you, Dan, Alan, and everyone who made it a worthwhile trip to Hershey. Without guys like you, this industry would be in big trouble. Judy Garber and her staff did a great job.
If you don't know about NAOHSM, find out. You're missing the boat!!!!!

Al, You're right I believe there were many others present that night that would have done the same exact thing because we all share the same passion that Dave Nelsen did.

In fact for those of you that may not know this Dave's brother did the very same thing last year with his winnings. But that's know surprise after all he is a Nelsen :)
