I heard on the radio this a.m. about the latest epidemic to hit Croatia -- toppling street lamp poles. As the story goes, it has been determined (by someone) that the dogs of Croatia are the guilty parties. Seems that they have been relieving themselves on the metal poles with such frequency over the years that the acid in their urine has corroded the metal and thus -- well you get the picture.

Makes a good argument for wooden poles, eh?
