Short height boilers

Can you suggest a boiler that can be installed in a space 4 feet high?

The only models I know are the Laars and Munchkin.
Any others? Does Burnham make a short model?

Thank you for your assistance

    Vitogas

If the Vitogas is 42", could you actually install it in a space 48" high? Does it vent out the top?

    Some other short gas boilers

Total height to top of draft divertor: Dunkirk Plymouth 31 3/8 inches, Lochinvar copper fin 28 inches. The shortest Burnham I know of is the Independence at 41 1/4 in smaller sizes and 45 1/4 in larger. Power vent gas Dunkirk XEB 29 inches to top of 3 inch vent connection (3 inch vent up to 150MBH in and adapted to 4 inch on 187.5 and 225 input models), Burnham 2PV is 36. I use the Dunkirk Plymouth models almost exclusively for residential and commerical use due in part to the fact that they can have nice tall vent connectors installed for very good venting configurations in multiple appliance installs. Also, B-vent can be used to right near the boiler, for warmer flue gases. I'm sure that the uninsulated mushroom divertors lose more heat, improving AFUE, but not giving you any more usable heat at the boiler supply. Are you boiler manufacturers listening that use tall mushroom type draft divertors? The Lochinvar is unique in that its draft divertor relief opening is below the heat exchanger level, helping prevent heated air moving across the heat exchanger from flowing into the boiler room during the off cycle when used with a stack damper. Nice detail. The Lochinvar is quite finicky about installation and factory support has been poor recently....hopefully that is changing. I have found factory support for the Dunkirks to be good. Burnham support is great with Glenn Stanton here at the Wall.

it vents out the side(left) with 3" s/s. Get the book/spec sheet for sizes and measurements.

    Be sure to watch

the required top clearence. Most require 18" or more from the top of the jacket to combustibles.

Some code books show options for reducing this clearence with properly constructed heat shields.

Generally the copper tube brands are the lowest. Sealed combustion with rear vent take off could help also.

Also wall hungs like MZ would be a place to look.

    also look at SMITH

I have had success with SMITH. For atmospheric, Cast Iron Boilers, the Smith GB100 is only 35-1/4" to the top of the vent damper.

It has a internal draft diverter which allows you to vent directly off the top of the boiler.

I am a wholesaler that sells Burnham, Weil, Smith, Lochinvar, RBI, Monitor MZ, Munchkin.

This low profile has come in handy before.

    Good Luck.
