manifold installation

That you shouldn't install a valved manifold so that the balancing valve adjustment is upside down. He said that it allows crud to get in the valve and gum things up. Never heard of this before and will feel funny if it's true since I do have some jobs where coming out of the ceiling it made sense to come down into the manifold straight into the fitting which puts the valve on the bottom. Never had a problem so far. What does the collective knowledge of the Wall say. WW

    I do it all of the time...........

    with no problems. If there are telestats involved, be extra sure eveything is tight because getting water on them will let the smoke out.

    The new Wirsbo manifolds are more sensitive due to the flow electronic flow meters, so upside down won't work. Mounting them sideways isn't a problem though. Very cool, extruded brass, one piece manifold assemblies and Wirsbo is offering special introductory pricing on them.
