Quick books Pro ???

Any of you using Qucibboks Pro to run your business ?

I am currently using Wintac for the customer end of the business and Quickbooks for the financial end of the business. My office would like to switch over to all Quickbooks Pro.

How does it work for you ? Materials / Pricing ?

Importing materials cost from outside ?

Any advice from you Pro's would be appreciated.

Scott, I don't know if you're looking for input from a novice point of view? :) But I just thought I would mention I have been using QuickBooks 2002 and I'm very happy with it. I believe it's keeping me out of a lot of trouble.

As you may know this has been my first full year in business and I had taken a business course that was provided by the state of PA. One thing I learned was that I was going to let an accountant handle the books as I felt I need to concentrate on other areas of the business. but I recognized this was a very important piece of the business puzzle, a piece I needed if I expect to succeed.

QuickBooks is what they recommended and they even helped me get it set up. I truly feel I have learned more than I ever imagined was possible because of the ease this program offers.

I don't have the same type of inventory as you but adding and removing the items I sell has been pretty easy from what I have experienced.

Well, that's my two cents I hope you didn't mind my throwing it in.

    Your friend in the industry,

I've heard a lot of good things about QuickBooks; it's a good program for a small business.

If you want something that you can grow into and that gives you more information about your company, you should investigate American Contractor or Master Builder. You can tell by their names, these are programs that are made for contractors. We just had a general contractor come into our office who has been using QuickBooks for a few years and wanted something better. He came in with his office manager to look at our American Contractor.

    Best wishes,

    Alan

my accountant demanded that i use pro from the inception. i use it and like it very much. it must first be set up, which can be time consuming for novices, but it is really easy to use, lots of nice features, editing customers is a breeze. i like the feature that allows you to instantly email quotes with no hassle.

    I have used the pro 2000 ....

and a couple other previous updates before that. Am now using the 2003.
Qbooks Pro is works great for the general books, estimates, but does not have a lot of room lots of small aprts and pieces. We use another program for that, which can handle 30,000 parts or so, keep track of inventory, and easier to adjust pricing on, etc..

I am leaning more towards Quickbooks for the finance and Wintac for the customer base.

For those of you who would like an affordable flexable program I can not say enough about Wintac. I am very happy with it, my office help would like one program for everything but well see. Wintac does finance/billing/payroll. We switched to Quickbooks for the accountant, I should have told them to switch to what we use. :)

Alan thanks for the tip I'll check out those two.
