    HOT BOILER ROOM

WONDERING IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME OUT WITH A BOILER ROOM THAT IS SITTING AT 38 DEG. C. IN THE BOILER ROOM WE ARE FIRING 1.9 M AND A HYDROTHERM CAST IRON SECTIONAL BOILER HAVING 6 MODULAR UNITS. WE HAVE 20 BY 20 COMBUSTION AIR AND 8 INCH DIAMETER RELIEF AIR. BOILER AND HOT WATER TANK
SEEM TO BE BURNING PROPERLY, RELIEF AIR IS ACTING MORE LIKE A COMBUSTION AIR AND THEREFORE OVERHEATING. DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANY SPILLAGE AT THE DRAFT HOOD AND FLAME IS NOT ROLLING OUT AT ALL. ANY SUGGESTIONS????

    hot boiler room

Seems like too little air to me.Check your codes for proper air. You can use mechanical means to ventilate the boiler room but check codes there again. If you mechanically exhaust, you must mechanically make-up, or at least interlock the exhaust fan to shut down went boilers run. Too little info from you to give specifics, but it seems that you have too little ventilation. How big is the boiler room/ What are draft conditions? What about increased standby loses if you ventilate? Do you have damper on stack? A lot to consider here.

    100 degree F

if 38 c is that the room does seem warm, we have the same issue with 1.6 million input and insulated all the pipes and the vent connectors to the stack. Our air intake was sized OK also. If this is steam you probably have a large receiver that gives off alot of heat. I agree with Al, put in a warm weather separate ventilation system to get the ambiant where you want it.

    Boiler insulation.

I suspect the boilers are radiant heat into the room due to the lack of insulation these, and other, boilers have around their heat exchangers. Do the boilers maintain any type of temperature? Are the boilers staged? If they aren't piped P/S or reverse return with isolation ZVs, all of the boiler blocks will be warm constantly. Wouldn't take much to raise a boiler room to 100° or better with all of that warm iron.
