Help with expansion tank

How do I go about sizing an expansion tank?

We are going to do a simple radiant room addition w/a 40 gal. water heater and about 300 ft. of 1/2" pex in two loops. Is there a general rule of thumb or a more exact formula for sizing the expansion tank?
