    bogus billing request

I got an e-mail today from aol.americabillcenter.com. Saying there were problems with 1)my billing information or, 2)my password or 3)someone tried to access my account. I was to click on a certian link to address this problem. I decided to call someone on the phone. The person I spoke to said it was a scam. If you use AOL and recieve an e-mail like this, make a phone call first, and check things out. You may be glad you did.

Thanks Chuck, You're right that was bogus. Something else AOL Subscribes should remember is that any e-mail from AOL will always be a light blue envelope in your mail box if it's not just delete it, Please trust me on this one.

And one other hoax that goes around you'll get an e-mail from a friend that tells you there is a virus in your system it will give you the steps to locate a teddy bear icon on your hard drive then it will tell you to delete it.

That's the last thing you want to do. That icon belongs there. It's a driver in your system.

    Happy surfing friends.

    Your friend in the industry,

    Another thing to look for

AOL will not ask for your password once you are logged on. Also, if you type your password on a form and you see letters instead of stars or dots, stop immediately.

This is a common scam. I know of no legitmate business or service that will request sensitive personal info via email. If you're not logged on to a secure server (https:// as oppossed to http:// in the URL) when asked to provide this info, don't do it!

    I'm with Mad Dog

I've probably deleted hundreds of e-mails that may have been useful. But my rule is, if there is any doubt, delete it and empty the trash. If someone wants to get a message to me, I'm in the phone book.
