if you can determine airflow and temperature rise, you can easily figure out a close approximation of the btu's. you will need either a flow hood to measure cfm's or an anemometer to measure velocity, then its just a matter of using the correct formulas. i dont have them in my head, but could help if you get the required info. would need to dust off some books, or someone here might know them if they do balancing often.

I've got 8 "Peerless Heating and Ventilation Units" (dated possible as 1925).

Under the heating elements, I've got a 220 motor (1.6A 1 Phase 900 RMP) controling 2 squirrel cage fans/blowers. Any way whatsoever to determine BTU output on this?

    (if this helps, the finned radiators are 5 x 5 x 45. There's 2 per cabinet).

As always, thanks for the help,
    Gene.

Gene, these sound like \"Unit Ventilators\"

which were used a lot in schools.

Do you know who made them?

I have a loud banging noise in the system, the system is 16 yrs old and this is a first for this problem, although there have been many others. The zone valves are original could I have a weak valve?
