Burnham cast iron baseboard

Thanks... I didn't know about the flashing.. There isn't enough room either immediately behind or slightly underneath the unit to have the return? Unfortunately I can't come from behind and beneath to install due to location/inaccessibility. I have to wrap around from opposite wall where the chase is located. I'll make a nice box moulding to hide the copper.. What are the special fittings that you mentioned?

Burnham cast iron baseboard
Does anyone here have experience with the Burnham Baseray cast iron baseborad. I would like to add heat to a three season porch (that is insulated no more or less than the rest of the house) but keep the "period" look. It's a 1910 Philly style 2 family with realy nice cast iron radiators throughout the rest of the house.
The best place to put the heating source will be under the 7 windows.. I hate the look of traditional baseboard and using large radiators would not be practical..especially since I can't put them where they would be most effective..
Some rough heat calcs put the BTU requirement at around 17K.. or roughly 30 feet of baseboard with 180F water, 20F dt. A friend of mine has used this product before and claims that I'm not going to need all 30 feet because this stuff really puts out!
Any thoughts? Also, how easy does it all go together and any suggestions on concealing supply/return lines either behind it or up to it?
Thanks again.

Burnham cast iron radiation
Match the amount of baseboard to the calculated heat loss per manufacturers' specs. It goes together ok with the right tool and the piping is hidden in the end covers. You have to feed and return through the floor or wall behind as you would any baseboard, except you need special fittings to do it right. There is no room to go through or return in the baseboard.
Don't forget to put in the reflective flashing behind the baseboard!!!

My parents house has about 40 feet of Burnham cast iron baseboard running down a hall from the dining room past the butler's pantry (a nice late Victorian house) and cellar steps and into the kitchen. The rest of the house has traditional radiators, all hot water, fed by a Burnham boiler.
Anyway, the baseboard is nice. Does a good job, and looks good, too.
In the winter it's where the dogs hang out. Parents have 3 Greyhounds, a Lab, and when I go home to visit that adds two more dogs, all racked out in the hall next to the baseboard heating!
But, therein lies a problem...
The dog hair gets pulled in under the unit and clogs the vanes. It was getting so bad that it was really reducing efficiency until I made Mom a special attachment for the shop vac that could be threaded in under and behind the units.

return in baseboard
Burnham claims there is a channel in the back just large enough for 1/2in copper.
