according to a tech guy at Unico, they only vary between about 50%-100%
How do you make a whole house HEPA filter (with a blower, in parallel to the return trunk) work in a radiant floor/Unico AC system work? If the Unico blower is off in the winter the HEPA filter will just short circuit between its inlet and outlet, won't it?
I thought about putting a damper in the return trunk and piping the HEPA filter across it, but what a pain.
Has anyone faced this, or am I thinking too much?
Thanks for any ideas or comments.

Unico has now..........
dumped the 2436 blower in favor of a 2430 and a 3642 blower assemblies. They also have variable speed control and have lined the cabinets with closed cell instead of fiberglass. The motor has a twist lock and is ACTUALLY accessable. Wish I would have known all of this before I bid two. It's tough being out of the loop (g).

Wish list item
I wish that manufacturers would provide a way for us to let them know we are installing their products. They could then generate mailing lists and automatically mail/send/fax/e-mail/ups/fed-ex/dogsled or whatever to those of us who use their stuffand would really enjoy staying current on it.
Viessmann does this to a large degree. I wish everyone else would follow their lead. I HATE having to ask for updates after the fact.0 -
9\" ductwork
is required between the blower and first tee from 3 or 3.5 to 5 ton. I only recently found out about the changes also. I have had trouble getting undated specs on the equipment. I also found out to get 10 SEER from Unico you need a 12 SEER cond unit. For 12 SEER I forget what SEER cond unit. They cannot get SEERs over 12. This means no utilty rebates in my area.

HB! When you say they now have a variable speed control does it just vary the speed or is it an ECM motor?

Efficiency numbers with Unico
Are HIGHLY related to humidity removal. Unico literature explains the process VERY well. They have always recommended the highest efficiency condensing units available EVEN IN AREAS OF EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH HUMIDITY where the published numbers are not "real" when used with a conventional evap coil.
If there was ever a product made to excel in the Mid-Mississippi Valley where I have to put defrost timers on all my bar coolers, Hi-Velocity air is it!!!
I liken the extraordinary humidity removal of such to the "impossible" efficiencies of condensing boilers.0 -
And...
they have verticle plenuem adapters that the hot water coil is actually made to fit right in!!!!! Imagine that !!!!!
The new motors are also 1725 rpm so they run a bit quieter.....0
