maybe there are some motor heads here. I have a 1967 chevelle convertible with a power top problem. Does anyone know what type of fluid goes in the hydrolic pump/motor?
Thanks, From Jack..li

    top less

I had a 4door lincoln (like Green Arces, but with out the Garbor sister) and that used jack oil.Same as a floor jack, light weight, good flow rate.It was a **** to prime and bleed the line though. Good luck theres nothing like a summer day without a roof, except on a bike, don't have them anymore either.Dave

    Oil

Maybe Automatic Transmission Fluid would work alright too. The important thing I would think is that it's a non foaming type of oil and light weight. The jack oil would do that too. ATF is probobly on your shelf already.

The only convertible I've ever had is when we cut the roof off of a '74 Dodge Monaco and drove it to the Black Hills of South Dakota on Memorial weekend. It poured rain the entire time. People would ask why we didn't put the top up. "Look closer, it doesn't HAVE one." Kevin

    problem

would be you wouldn't want to contaminate the system if its not the same fluid. You'd never get the small lines clear. It's a funky little pump that can be very fussy.Had a 68 Mustang too and that was easy as it was manual, just fold it back.I've always wanted to cut the roof old something. A late 60's Caddy would be cool.

    Thank you

I did hours of searching, ATF was recomended in some cars. I stumbled on to the original owners manual for my car online. These computers are amazing. The 67 chevelle called for brake fluid. Thanks for your responses.
