History question (Starch)

....Time flies when you're having fun. I noticed tonight the copyright thingy says 1999. Has it really been that long since the "new" wall came up? Got me kinda nostalgic thinking about the old days. Trying to remember when the Wall first started. Was it '95??? Not that it matters, but I just was wondering, for some reason.......

    I don't remember the date...

All I know is that it was wild and wooly!

I didn't have a computer. I went to the library every day to go to the wall. I lived and breathed Hydronic Heating. The Wall made it all come to life. Thanks to the Wall I went to a "Traveling Wet Head Show" in Denver. I planned our vacation around it. My lovely wife attended with me. I went wild after that.

    That seminar changed my life.

But now I find myself in a rut. Long story. I am just getting on top of a mental illness that nearly destroyed me. My heart is still in hydronic heating. I am floundering though. Not sure where to turn.

My wife and I will be taking a couple of days off next week. We are going to a local hotel for 2 days and 2 nights. We ain't coming out until we have our personal and business vision and mission statements written out. And our 1 year, 2 year, 5 year, and 10 year goals defined, written out, and an action plan established to reach the same.

It's time to find the passion for life again. I have it in me. But I need a road map. I have been flowering the last couple of months like I haven't for years now. It feels good, but it is time to go to the next level!

    Pure H2oh!

    Mid 1996?

I remember the good ole' days! I have been here since it's inception and as much as I like the current "Wall", the days of it's infancy will always be special. We had some good times back then, eh?

    Old days

Can you believe it's been that long!?

There were some wild times along the way.

I will say the stuff I've learned here over the years has helped me in more ways than one.

    Site that sets a standard

I visit other sites, on other subjects, and far to many of the posters are nameless (and useless) to the subject. Even when we get a problem on the wall I think they stand out so fast and are delt with properly that they don't come back. I to have learned a lot and enjoyed the difference of opinions. Thanks a lot Dan!

Sounds like it Was like the old West.........

I would have loved it...no holds barred...cage fights...tank abbott-style....but Dan was right.... hadda lay down the law, like Wyatt Earp. It gets a little outta hand once in a while, but law and order prevails - as it should. As Dan knows, from seeing me at "other" similar sites, the ferocious Rhodesian Ridgeback that comes out acts like a Nice Weimaraner here. I wish I coulda hung around the old Wall, but this new Wall is more civil and sane - a good thing!!!!!!! Mad Dog

    Then and now

Remember when Autumn looked like the baby on the left? (Sept 1997). And I was out of my mind because her mother was seeing a very unsavoury fella, and keeping Autumn from me. That's changed, thank God.

It was like an ice-hockey match sometimes, with routine name-calling and threats in my personal mailbox.

Ahhh, the good ole DanHolohan.com days.

Now, Autumn is six (April 11th), 4ft tall, 4.0 at school, is a natural ballet dancer and linguist (can mimmick any accent or dialect), and makes friends as easily as eating breakfast (she met these ladies at Mardi-gras while we were dancing in the street to a real Cajun-Rock band).

    We,ve come a long way in 5 1/2 yrs.

Thanks for the memories, Dan and all.

    Fond Wall memories

    1. Ribbing Viessmann fans about their bright orange boilers,

    2. The April Fools joke we played on Dan,

    3. An informal collection of Wallheads that would step in and visit homeowners who posted their problems on the Wall- this evolved into "Find a Contractor",

    4. Meeting Dan, Noel, Mad Dog and all the rest!

    Yup, something like that......

...except it was "a cross between a college classroom and a biker bar, and it's the most addictive thing you'll ever experience."
