    pipingbends

H.R.I notice that you use a lot of bent pipe instead of fittings, which makes for a lot nicer setup. Just wondering how you are making your bends. Do you use a conduit bender or do you have some other style? Thanks for the info.
    Have a great Easter!

    Q&A

thanks for the comments :) The boilers are 200,000 Crown Cabos. They are sealed combustion with 4" intake air ducted in single wall galv. The vent is Heat Fab Saf-T Vent with the new gasketed joints. It's a AL29-4C single wall stainless pipe. www.heat-fab.com

This room will also be used to store drums of motor oils. I felt better with sealed combustion. The original design called for one large copper tube boiler. I sold them on the two boiler system with a tekmar 262 control. A Wirsbo Promix handles the two injection pump mix stations. The shop area is a mini tube system.

The copper was bent with a REMS Curvo. Becoming my favorite, all time, power tool! Right up there with a T-Drill. It bends regular "off the shelf" copper. Works best on L, seems to wrinkle a little with M, sometimes.

I was happy to see my 1" wall insulation still fit the bends and the preformed fitting covers also worked.

  • Where's

    the bunny rabbit?

Help me out with the piping, hr. I see the boiler on the right taking the whole primary flow with the boiler on the left piping into and out of that loop.

And down at the end there, it looks like a seconday pulling off another secondary, both with closely spaced tees. The first secondary looks like it's just a loop.

Tell me if I've got this right: the tekmar 262 is your 2-stage boiler control and the Promix does your outdoor reset?

    My stupid questions are:

    1) Why didn't you do primary/secondary (1°/2°) from the boilers into the boiler loop? I know it adds another circulator, but it would have separated system flow from boiler flow.

    2) What's the first secondary for if only to provide piping for the second secondary.

    3) What is the noise level of those boilers?

    4) You said it's a minitube system. Is that radiant? How many square feet?

I'm still getting over jetlag, so the obvious is still difficult for me.

    Nice work, hr.

    Best wishes,

    Alan

    Patrick

www.techlite.net is the company that manufactues this insulation. I use the 879. They will do 1/2" wall thickness also. Lots of color options, easier to work than fiberglass.

    jetlag, Alan?

Where in the world have you been this time? You will join us in Sacramento, yes?

Here's the skinny on this job. A 10,000 sq ft diesel repair shop. One zone for the shop, 1 zone offices, all slab. The boilers are piped so only the "fired" boiler sees flow. The key is the checks, in this case I used Grundfos pumps with intergral checks.

VS injection pumps pull off the bulge fitting. The shop manifold is abought 80 feet away and is fed by 2- 1" injection lines. The tekmar 262 bosses the boilers around rotates, post purge, and stages them to the load.

The Wirsbo Promix operates on a wall stat call and controls the VS injection pumps based on outdoor reset.

I have incorporated some "firsts" in this piping, seems to track OK, so far.

Boilers are a tad noisey, especially outside near the exhaust terminals! Acceptable for this commercial application. Use caution on vent terminations for residential applications. Think I'd opt for roof termination in residential jobs.

    See ya real soon.
