Trouble with pilot light thermocouple

I have a problem with a Slantfin boiler. We have had about five thermocouples replaced. The service man cannot figure out what is causing it. He replaced the gas valve but that didn't seem to make any difference. The furnace is about 30 years old and has worked good for years but this problem is giving us fits. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

    check the combustion condition in the boiler room. For thermocouples to fail that often and I assume that is this winter is unusual. It could be the quality of the thermocouple some are very good some not so good. If there is a combustion problem it can cause excessive heat at the thermocouple causing it to break down.

    There are many things that cause thermocouples to fail. I am going to put a post back up on the Wall take a look at it and see if your service man has checked these things. It is labeled "thermocouple failure".
