Gas and Oil

In my frequent visits to the Wall, I have noticed something that I just have to speek up about. In the ongoing debates between "Gas and Oil", let us remember that all gas companies are not utility companies. The propane guys are usually the small Mom and Pop companies just like the oil guys are, likely to get the same type of service as the Oil guys provide.
Now I say this because in my area (Hudson Valley, NY which I know is not the rest of the world) You have natural gas in the heavily populated area and a lot of oil and propane heating equipment every place else.
When a homowner comes on this board and asks the ol' oil vs gas question, without knowing what "gas" they are talking about, we, as professionals, should be very carefull in what we say and how we say it, and not group gas as one thing.
Thanks

I agree.
Here in the Northeast, propane wasn't a viable fuel until the last few years. A majority of the oil companies now offer propane along side their fuel oil sales. This is helping to even out pricing. I have always done quite a bit of oil, but now with all of the high efficiency gas boilers that run on propane, I see my business starting to offer propane first then oil when it comes to complete radiant of other low temperature hydronic applications. I have been working on oil for 25 years (egads!!), but the only constant is change. I love the Vitodens on propane ;-)
