While doing service calls today, I found some pretty neat stuff. The first is a working system, the 2nd is an old pancake, it is off line. Looks like all the parts are probally there execpt the radiators. I'm guessing they changed over to scorched air when this one died.

Neat ?
Wish I could say I had fond memories of working on all that "neat stuff" . I would still be working on lots of it if I didn't get out of the old company. What posesses folks to keep these relics running ? The Smithsonian called ....and they want that water heater !
Lots of luck Chuck .0 -
Chuck, what's the big deal?
I've got to get you up to Brockton, see this stuff almost everyday and it's still on line! Have a good one John@Reliable0 -
can anyone tell me anything about the last picture? I think a "side arm domestic" water heater. How did they control capacity? or did they just adjust the flame to the point that the galvanized uninsulated tank radiated off enough?0 -
That's exactly what it is
there are two- one on the boiler, and what looks like a kerosene-fired one to heat water in summer. I can't tell if there's any type of thermostatic control on it, if not they must have adjusted the flame.
