    Check out this system

I am in the process of building a new house. In that process I did allot of research into radiant heat. Without a doubt it was the way to go. I hired Wheeler Plumbing & Heating due to their reputation with radiant heat. I just thought that I would post a photo of the artwork for all to enjoy.
  • Wow....

Looks like something someone would (should) enter into the annual RPA conference. Did you find him around here?

    Looks like

the electrician helped out with some nice work too. Its one thing for a contractor to show off his work, but it is in another leauge when the homeowner is impressed enough to post the photos.

    Wiring

Bryant Wheeler, the plumber, did his own wiring. The house is about 3,700 square feet. That includes the basement which also is heated. Thanks for the comments. We are deciding how to enclose the room so that the system can still be seen. One idea was to put in a bar and have the manafold as a back drop.

How is this for an idea. Set up a small wet bar with some stools that way when your friends stop by you can all sit there and have a drink while they drool. What a true masterpiece.

    NICEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I would love to see the bill on that job! That guy must have been there @ least a month. I wish I could tell what was going on with the picture a little bit better. I see we have 7 radiant zones but it looks as if that is one large manifold at the top? Great work.

    How inspiring

To see such marvelous craftmanship and know it still exists. It reminds me of some of the old pneumatic tubing jobs where the fitters hand bent all the 1/4 and 3/8 copper control tubing.Sets of 10 to 15 lines all on equal centers.Work like this sets the benchmark for our industry.

Can I be the one critic...?

I have to give one peice of criticism. I like the contractor love to show off my copper work. That is why I am a radiant guy. But... That is alot of un-directed heat! Get what I am saying? You could probly heat that whole house off of that much exposed copper (not really but you know what I am saying?). I would recommend insulating that so the heat is emitted from the floor and not the mechanical room! Looks decent though.

So, what are the estimate for the job like that? I am not asking anyone the exact figure, just an estimate.
    less then 10.000 ?
    Between 10. and 20?
    20 and 30?
    ....
Just curious. I cannot do radiant heat in my house, but "I have a dream...".

Something to look at for the $$$

With out any doubt you are correct, however, I have to say that the only thing better than the heat the system gives off is standing there looking at the pipe work! I am willing to pay for the heat loss, besides everyone who comes over to see the house ends up congregating at the mechanical room and I need to keep the guests warm. :-)

Another fine job by Wheeler plumbing and heating..Not only does his heat systems look good but the waste and water looks as good. Its a pleasure to work with someone who cares about the finished job and not just how many jobs he can jamb in in one week.

Hi,I'm the creator of this master piece. And i have to tell you that you guys have made my year with all your comments. Its one thing when we sit back and admire our work or the homeowner. It's a completly different thing when people in the trade say as many nice things about it as you guys did.I have been a avid reader of the wall but never a contributer to it.After reading your answers to some of the guestions that have been posted you guys amaze me with your wisdom. So to get the response I did from you guys means a great deal to me.So thanks so much for your praise,i feel as if i have hit the highlight of my carear.to mark eatherton i would love to enter some of my work into a competion, but have no ideal how to do so.If anybody has any clue on how to do this could you let me know.To Jamie-we have six zones of radiant one zone for the inderect water heater.so in that header that looks like one big header their is really six supply headers as well as six return headers-we pipe these to give the apperance of one long header. As far as the electrical work goes we do that as well after taking the care and time to make it look as good as it does i don't trust a electrian to wire it.As far as price after everybodys responces -i don't think I'm charging enough. And to Mark C. that was a very nice comment you made.In closing thanks again for a the fine comments.I have never been so proud of my work until i read all your comments.Again thanks again !Sincerly Bryant Wheeler

  • Entering a contest...

you need to join the Radiant Panel Association, which can be accessed at www.radiantpanelassociation.org

It's too late for this years contest, but there's always next year program.

G'Luck and keep up the great work.

We are also the owners of a Wheeler designed system. It has been in operation for approximately for one and a half years. It replaces an ineficient hot air furnace. The fuel savings are unbelievable, our fuel bill has been reduced by as much as 60% plus we have the added benefit of our domestic hot water coming from the SuperStor as opposed to the electric water heater. To the critic,I will take the ineficiecy of the undirected heat just so I can say to people, LOOK AT THIS!!!!.PS I also have a workshop in my basement. The idea of wet bar sounds pretty good , I think I'll start building.
