PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) The Honeywell plant here plans to lay off 374 workers over the next 15 months as it relocates operations overseas.
Honeywell officials announced the plan on Wednesday, explaining that the work will be moved to company facilities in Shenzhen, China and Juarez, Mexico in order to reduce manufacturing costs.
''We must take this action to strengthen the position of the thermal controls business going forward, fund future growth and ultimately create a stronger organization,'' Alan Wright, vice president and general manager for Honeywell Sensing and Control, said in a statement.
