Heat exchangers for domestic hot water

last night , and the subject of flat plate heat exchangers on the System 2000 was brought up at my table . Since the only type Ive used in the past was for a pool heater , I was very intrigued . Anyone have good results with a particular brand ? And how is the output compared to an stand-alone indirect tank ? Sounds like a great idea for homes without space for a separate tank . Thanks in advance , Ron .

    system 2000 hx

ive only had one real problem with system 2000 hx. that was because of poor well water coming in. it clogged up. our co. was acid flushing it out every year, then every 6 mos. then every two weeks. customer went with electic hot water heater. he didn't like the price of new heat exchanger. customer did have a sediment filter on his in comming line, just after the pump. ive only seen on 4 or 5 system 2000.

Flat plate and domestic hot water

I am using an Alfa-Lavell(sp) at my home. It is piped first priority off P/S piping into a 40 gal electric(turned off)storage tank. Boiler is a WM GV gold/gas. I have yet to run out of hot water (3 showers). I have had to stop all the cold but it was still tollerable showering. The system is 4 years old and still going -- city water from reservoir.
