Noise 30 minutes into cycle
Moi
Member Posts: 1
The building I live in installed a steam heat unit two years ago. My bedroom is right over the unit, and on very cold days, about 30 minutes into the cycle, the pipes vibrate and make a load groaning noise that lasts about 3 seconds and can repeat from 3-10 times. Is this water hammer? I thought water hammer was a knocking noise, but this is definitely a vibration/groaning noise. My bed is right over the heater, so this needs to get fixed, but I'm not sure what to tell a repair person.
