staple up

Hi, My dad has three zones, w/3 pumps, hwbb. 2 zones are cast iron, one zone is copper with about 24' of fintube in a sunroom, and 2 kick space units under cabinets in the kitchen. The kick space units have ruined the color of the adjacent linoleum. He saw a t.v. program and is interested in replacing the kitchen units with hydronic floor heat.
Most of his house has a basement, this section is over 3' high crawl space, dimensions, 17' x 10' (just a guess, and besides, it's L-shaped.) The old 1 1/4" cast iron pipe is still below, and is part of a different zone.
When he said hydronic, I said, I've heard of staple up.
I figure disconnect the kitchen units and tie into that zone which is copper and has access in the crawl space.
I came here looking for photos so I could show him.
He was wondering what happens where the braces cross, etc.
any input? where could I go for more info?
thanks a lot.

It can work
provided you start with a full and complete heat loss. You will have to "mix down" the temperature of the water coming into the tubing. The "L" shape doesnt really matter. Find someone in your area that is experianced in radiant heat.
The last thing, I have installed many toe kick heaters, and have never had one discolor a floor. You may want to look into what is doing that, because if the whole floor is warm, the whole floor may become discolored. JMO

Staple up
If the bridging is strap there is no problem, but if it's solid it needs to be notched at the top.
You will also need a mixing valve to lower the water temperature.I would suggest getting help from a local contractor.

Thanks for the photo, that will help him get the idea.
Also, his main question had been about the bracing, so thanks
for that info.
