What do you think of propane? If it is the oil burner you are hearing switching to gas might be an option.

I need to replace my summer winter oil boiler which sits in the utility room next to my dining area.. the boiler makes a tremendous amount of noise and when discussing my options with my oil company they have informed me that even with a new summer winter boiler the noise will still be about the same... could you please tell me if this is true and direct me to some other options, i have a very limited space and have considered getting an oil boiler for the hydrionic baseboards and using a tankless water heater. will this cut down on the noise?

    noise?

What type of noise,Flue, burner, pipes?direct vent?power vent?
Some boilers and burners are quieter than others.
A reillo with a shroud is very quiet, if it's flue noise, a snorkel on the damper may help. A water maker is definately a better way to go, burner runs less, uses less fuel....

    Boiler noise!

Angeni, What you are hearing is mostly air, an oil burner uses alot of it. Ask about an outdoor air intake which will transfer over 50% of that noise outside. We have installed many over the years and customers love them. PS they don't even cost that much to boot.John@Reliable

    noise

I was never a huge fan of steel boilers but when it comes to noise issues I dont think there is quieter boiler in the average price range than Energy Kinetics system 2000. It comes with the burner box and requires an outside air kit this all leads to quieter operation. I dont like them for all applications but they do run quiet.
