Zone pumps

I am looking at a 20 unit appartment complex and I am use to the West Coast Zone valve and piping loop. I am debating going to a zone pump arrangement in 1st floor mechanical room.
Is it cost effective to use 20 zone pumps vs zone valves with 20 home runs?
Is there any reason not to raise header and take pumps from bottom of header, drop a couple of feet and elimante flow checks?

zone pumps
Never mind the cost, imagine how much easier it will be to troubleshoot and service the pumps in the boiler room instead of sone valves spread out all over the building. In my book, that would be the only reason to use zone valves, to spread them out to save money on the piping.
And the last time I checked, a 007 was less money that a zone valve...as to the drop header, I prefer flow checks. Be careful of the return header. Flow can go backwards....

How about......
a combination of both ZVs and pumps. Depending on the flow criteria for each apartment, a single pump and zone valves may be able to serve 4 or 5 apts. Making a total of 4 or 5 off the shelf pumps and 20 ZVs. Much easier piping than 20 pumps and more efficient than one or two high output pumps and ZVs.

Zone pumps
Definatly go with the centralized zone pumps, try the Taco pumps with the integral flow checks. IMHO the easiest way to go.
