Floyd may be right. That's the most common time when we find rollout problems on inshot burners. Venting issues can if the flue draft is borderline. Usually they'll trip a pressure switch but not always. But scope out that heat exchanger really good. Worst place for cracks is right where the fire shoots in. Also, check for popped crimp rings holding the sections together.

    80PLUS furnace cutting out

    Hello all,

I visited a Tempstar fan assisted nat gas furnace, it has locked out several times at the roll out switch at the burner area. This is also a new switch... the old one couldn't be reset.

What are some common reasons for this? It has a modern metal chimney liner, could it be a venting issue? If it was a venting issue, why wouldn't the fan limit kick off the burners? There was a bunch of dust building up as well, could a gooked up HX be a problem? I'm leaning towards the latter.

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Heat exchanger....

is cracked....indoor fan comes on and blows the flame out the wrong way....:-)
  • Check for enough make-up air, too

See if it vents properly with all doors closed, dryer running, any exhaust fans running, and even ask if you suspect a fireplace running might be pulling air down the venting system.

Check to see if the burner is overfired, too.

    air

    Noel,

Forgive the dumb question, but why would make up air be an issue? That is, the rollout problem. Unless the basment is negative, I'm not sure how this applies.
