Sizing replacement steam rad.

I have an ornate steam rad. 38" high 7" deep 20" wide made up of 8 sections. I am going to replace this leaking unit(while i try to rebuild it) with a used rad. I have found one of the same overall dimensions 38"X7"X20" but fewer sections, each section must be a little thicker. will this work? or is it more of a surface area thing and i need 8 sections regarless of overall width. I know the depth must be th same to remain 2.5" from the wall.
Thank you.
Thank you.
