    The boilers

I currently use do not have rings. That being said, I have installed hundreds of W/M boilers and have never seen one leak because of the rings.

    Peerless uses them too.

I would not discount a boiler simply because of the "ring vs. nipple" debate.

    Hope this helps.

    Rings

I've seen leaks in 66/68 steam boilers but not in FHW. Also the section design in the Gold series is an improvement. More machined surfaces, less wear from expansion. I believe they called it captured seal design. Hard to describe without a picture.

    peerless

most peerless boilers use steel push nipples, the pinnicle being the exception

love the ec/ect for stm, larger water volume than most for a given firing rate

the best part about rings is if you have to section a boiler to get it into a basement all you need is silicone and a 3/4"socket and torgue wrench

    rings

Ditto on the other comments. I've used WM for years (hundreds of boilers) and never a leaker!!!!! They're great when you have to add a section for expansion or when the owner removes all the asbestos pipe covering and won't re-insulated. Can't beat 'em.
