Cast iron baseboard

Just removed some cast iron baseboard. There were 6 2ft sections. 2 of the sections froze and cracked. Do to the high price of cast baseboard (over $20 a foot?) they wanted regular fin baseboard. Now I have 8ft of perfectly fine cast baseboard. Is there a market for used cast iron baseboard?

    I doubt

it. Is the other part of the house C.I.? Is this section on its own zone? If not your homeowner may have problems heating this area because of the different material used (copper vs. C.I.) Same BTU's different characteristics.

    Baseboard

It's a monoflow system. Theres only one other piece of cast board on the loop I worked on and it's in a seperate room. I did a heat loss and thats what I based the fin board on. Seemed to be working fine when I left. What are the different characteristics?

    Characteristics

Cast iron is of high mass and continues to give off heat long after flow has stopped. It also takes a while to "get up to speed" so to speak. This helps to minimize temperature differences between on-off cycles.

Fin baseboard is of extremely low mass and its output stops (and starts) almost immediately with the flow of heat.

Even if the output of the new fin is nearly identical to the old iron the different characteristics may show up as higher space temperature fluctuation--particularly during moderate weather.

    Where...
