the newly formed RPA-Washington area chapters' first meeting last night. I felt like I was living a part of History. Many Thanks to Dan Foley and Jeff Riley and all the others who are the Driving force behind this endeavor. The first guest speaker was Dave Yates I'm sure there will be pictures to come.

It was
a treat to spend the evening with the group and I was honored to be asked to speak. Riles called me from his car to complain about his dry soup being tough to chew

Our first meeting the Washington Area Chapter of the RPA (RPA-WAC) was a success - over fifty people attended. A special thanks to Dave Yates for making the long drive from York, PA to be our featured speaker and Jeff Riley for organizing and coordinating the meeting.
We also had the privilege of having three RPA national board members attend the meeting: Gary Hayden, Mike Luttrell, and myself.
Dave did a terrific job with his "Soup to Nuts" presentation and kept the audience entertained and involved in the discussion. Hopefully we can enlist Mr. Yates services for future RPA training sessions.

Great Time
I would also like to thank Dave Yates for coming and speaking to us at our first meeting. It was a great time and also a pleasure to finally meet Dave Yates after reading so many of his great articles. Also special thanks to Dan Foley and Jeff Riley for putting it all together. I will look foward to future meetings.

Eddie!
The pleasure was mutual. I was delighted you attended and that the evening was enjoyable. I had a blast!
You are sworn to secrecy, of course, because that was a partial preview of my presentation for the RPA convention. Shhhhhhhhh.

Dave!
Was going over my notes and was trying to recall the significance of the ratio you gave us concerning water heaters and capacity for radiant. Mainly (mixed temps-incoming temps)divided by (stored temps - incoming temps)Could you give a breif explanation to jog my memory. Thanks WW

ratio
That ratio gives us the information needed to asses current occupants draw of potable hot water. From that, we can determine if there's any excess capacity. Coupled with an accurate heat loss, we can easily project and/or anticipate a potential shortage of potable hot water in the bath. That also gives us the info needed to possibly upgrade their equipment, increase sales and build up the bottom line. Lastly, it clearly demonstrates that you are a professional who has their best interest at heart.
It's also an iron clad way to determine why customers are running out of hot water. Get the ratio, measure the flow (a bucket will do nicely) & multiply by the duration in time. This month's Contractor Magazine (part II of sizing water heaters) deals with this issue.

Your secrets safe with me
No problem Dave, I am glad I got a sneak peak, because I won't be able to make it to the convention. As much as I'd love to go. I am building a house, have my first baby coming this month and we are extremely busy now and it hasn't got hot yet. Thanks again Dave.

Great to see you also Wayne. I think you said you are going to the upcoming Tekmar class, if so I'll see you there. Till then take Care!

Actually I
cancelled. Too busy to make it, and I seldom deal with multiple boilers. (I just go to the curb and see how many fingers it takes to cover the house and then put in that many sections ocast iron. It don't hurt to be 300% over the heat load , do it?) WW
