Has anyone else had a problem with Danfoss Non-electric operators (Series RA2000)breaking off when you touch them? On hot water they are great, but for some reason on steam they seem to have touble. If anyone out there know's of a better non-electric valve/t'stat please let me know. Thanks

    TRV problem

Try a Taco valve. We've had little or no problems with them.

    try a macon valve...

we designed a valve that works well with steam temperature on the inlet side of the valve. the insert assembly has knurled serrations (male) and the operator has internal female serrations that lock the operator to the valve body. in addition we developed high impact plastic molded fins on the operator which dissapates the heat away from the operator. most prominent institutions prefer the macon valve for life and durability on steam applications. look at the web site www.maconcontrols.com. your local wholesaler should be able to get these. regards, tp tunstall

Danfoss is aware of this problem. Call a rep or Danfoss directly and ask for help. It seems that a packing might be leaking and overheating the operator.

    Danfoss

I just had my first Danfoss problem. The plastic ears holding in the element at the valve cracked off keeping the valve open. The unit has been in service for one year.
We have installed over 100 valves without problems.

We have tried to contact steamfitter regarding his message however the e-mail address is incomplete. Please feel free to contact Danfoss at heatingsales@danfoss.ca so that we can provide our help.
