Eletronic ignition

I need some advice on a service problem, I have a customer that has a Bryant boiler (PSB-40 Steam/Natural gas). When it first fires off(on a call for heat), it does so imediatly. After it comes up to pressure it shuts the burner down but if it needs to fire off again (to maintain pressure)the ignitor sparks for (no lie ) ten minutes before it fires off. The Inition mod was changed but problem still exists. I was not the one to change mod. To me it seems that the signal is not getting to the gas valve. Any help would be great.

There is mv and pv on the gas valve. You should have power to pv when a call for heat is made.If you do i would check
the pilot tube and pilot assembly.If it is ok i would disconnect the hi tenison lead and check for gas at the pilot tube with a combustible gas detector.If you have no gas the pilot valve hangs up. Replace the gas valve.

You can try this too

I would try to light the pilot with a match.If it fires,the ignition is the problem.Watch the spark from the electrode to the pilot hood.it should strike the hood so it can light the pilot.Check the gap,look for a craccked ceramic,look for the spark grounding out somewhere else,check for good clean grounds,clean pilot and orfice.
