Radiator protection

This has been asked by a soon to be new mother. Not much on the site about it. How would you answer it? (Note: recessed radiators)
I am expecting my first child this Spring and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for blocking off or covering recessed radiators. I am worried about my baby once he starts to crawl!

Scarred for life...
...an aunt of mine (the 5th of 7 kids) and the first to grow up in a house WITHOUT radiators still has a faint (but distinct) scar from crawling across a floor furnace grate.
Grandpa was a pharmacist who owned an old-time drug store in a small town. A chain store arrived, he went out of business, was forced to sell the big fancy house, moved to another town, bought a small plain house and it took a while for him to re-establish. (Funny how things don't really change.)
For some reason family was showing scars this Christmas. Noone else had any "heat related" childhood trauma and BOTH grandmas said that radiators didn't seem to be a problem with young children. Free-standing, coal fired hot water by the way.0 -

Perhaps mom could buy some fireplace screens at garage sales or re-use centers or salvage yards, and hook them to wall till junior learns about hot things.0 -

if you're gonna use covers, here's how to do it right, so they won't restrict the radiator's output and waste fuel.
