March 6. Don't miss this one!

They're at it again. My friends from GasNetworks in Massachusetts have a way of putting fun and education together in a package that defies financial reasoning. This time, they have me traveling to the beautiful Berkshires for a couple of days at Jiminy Peak, The Mountain Resort. I was there a few years ago with them and I had a ball. I don't ski, but I sure do like hanging out in that lodge!

The seminar that I'm doing for them on Thursday, March 6 is You and Me in the Basement. I really enjoy this one because it involves a lot of audience participation and the problems we look at cover both steam and hot water systems - both old and new. For years, I've collected the most interesting challenges that heating professionals have brought my way. I've saved the pros' original sketches and letters and that's what we spend the day looking at in a You and Me in the Basement session - tough, real-world challenges. I present the problem that the pro faced on the job and then we talk it out. What would we do if we were in the basement with that heating professional? Got to decide quickly. The place is getting cold and the owner is upstairs waiting!

On the way to some pretty creative solutions, we come up with all sorts of options, ideas and theories (some better than others). Hardly anyone ever agrees until the very end, and some don't even agree at that point, and that's what makes this day so interesting. We get to see how others troubleshoot, and a day like this will have you thinking in new directions. And it's a heck of a lot of fun at the same time.

I guarantee two things: You won't fall asleep. The hours will fly by.

As for the resort, well, it's just gorgeous and if you ski you're really going to like what GasNetworks has put together for you. Last time around, a lot of guys brought their families and extended their stay into the weekend. Please feel free to do the same.

Jiminy Peak is the largest ski and snowboard resort in Southern New England. And if you don't ski, there's an outdoor heated pool and a Jacuzzi, a fitness center, a sauna and a scenic summit chair lift ride. And a great big bar. While there, you and your guests can get a special discount on the lift tickets for both Thursday and Friday.

GasNetworks got a deal on the rooms as well. It's just $109 per night for single or double occupancy, and each room is a suite. I stayed there with my daughter last time and you can really spread out in these rooms. We had a terrific view of the slopes from our living room. We sat one night and just watched the action on the mountain. It was beautiful.

The seminar includes breakfast, lunch and a party afterwards. Can you stand it? And you know what all of this costs? Just $65 for the whole works! Party included. Go figure, eh? And if you're coming with a group of four or more, it's just $55 per person.

It costs more to stay home.

But we have room for just 100 smart people in need of a break, and most of the tickets are already gone. I'm giving you a heads-up today because you're a HeatingHelp.com subscriber and that makes you pretty special to me.

Hey, you've worked like a sled dog all winter, right? Get in on this great deal and we'll have some fun together. You deserve it.

To register, or for more information, call 1-800-662-9222. Do it while it's on your mind.

Thanks for all that you do for us. Hug your kids (or take 'em skiing!)

  • \"You, Me and the Basement\" Seminar Jiminy Peak

Dan, there's still some space left for your "You, Me and the Basement" Seminar at Jiminy Peak Resort. It's only 7 days away! I'm surprised there are still some seats left 'cause at $65 for bfast, lunch, breaks, a day with you, and a reception immediately following your seminar--it's got to be the best deal around! Although the cutoff date for rooms at Jiminy has expired, they will honor the special seminar rate of $109/night. That's for a suite!! Anyone interested can call Linda at 1-800-662-9222. See you next week! P.S. No shortage of snow here in the Berkshire's!
