That's all the room the builder is giving us for our boiler boards. This is a three unit apartment building with a commercial space below. All four units have Takagi "flash" water heaters that serve domestic and radiant; these boiler boards feed off the Takagis, through a double-wall heat exchanger (HX) and then to the floor.

The brown Taco circulator pumps between the Takagi and the HX, the green circulator pumps between the floor and the HX; counterflow for good heat transfer. The heat exchangers are made in Sweden by Swep.

All the living units will have Thermal Board panels on the floor and the downstairs restaurant radiant is in concrete over Blue Board over the structural slab.
