We've used the wirsbo one's several times and I'm starting a job tomarrow where we are using them. We save about half of the time, because I'll have my apprentice work ahead of me hanging the plates. If you were using the old style plates you could not work this way. Plus there is less aggrevation with the tubing popping out before you get the plate up and staple it. You will need a rubber mallet to help bang the tubing in. It's a little tight but not enough to create a problem. One little tip, put in your contract to have the home owner or the carpenter to cut any nails down, this will save the most time.

    Yeah Mark

I just put it in my brothers house. Wirsbo gets it from RTI so it is the same. Used the 3/8 tubing size so the pex is easier to manuver. Had to buy a grinder to remove nails and screws sticking through the floor. Works great, but a bit time consuming. Controlling with a tek mar 361 and powering with a Buderus G115. Whats not to like. After the plates are up installing the tubing is a snap. (quite literally), do bring a rubber mallet to the party. A job I did along with a homeowner he had an air run hammer / vibrating tool that worked great to pound the tubing in. He also used it in the Wall of his large glass filled foyer, where there were so many stairs he had no place to put floor heat. Very neat job.

The same as Danny and Wayne, But the trak's are not the same as RTI the grove is tighter and holds the tube better. We put the trak's side by side and there is a slight difference. Instead of useing a malet use a 2 x 4 from the floor and push the tube in it saves the back and neck. Once you do use them you won't want to use the old style of Wirsbo plates. I don't think they are making them anymore.

    Track

We use this type of track on all our staple up jobs.I wrote an article for the RPA on it a while back.I'll see if I can find it and post it.

We use rolling staging for hanging track, drilling and installing tubing it save alot of time climbing ladders. When installing the track we use self feeding automtaic screw guns with a self tapping screw.

If I remember right we figure two minutes per plate for installation, and one man hour per 200' of tubing.
