Tankless piped to storage tank

This is what I did. I disconnected the electric HW heater's elements. I used the HW heater's thermostats to control a bronze (TACO 006) circulator, taking water from the tank bottom via the drain port, pump it thru the boilers tankless coil and back into the cold inlet of the tank. Hot out from the tank goes to the house domestic hot piping. Fresh feed water goes into a tee between the pump and the coil, with a flow control to keep the feed water flowing thru the coil when the pump is not operating.

Tankless piped to storage tank
I have seen a piping diagram on here before piping a storage tank to a tankless coil on a boiler. I have a job that I am doing were a indirect isn't going to be used (price problem) I have an existing elecric water heater that I want to pipe into a tanklees coil, they are in seperate closets about 15' away from each other. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

tankless hook-up
Pipe the supply from the coil into thecold of the water heater & the return off the drain of the water heater.Add a check valve on the cold inlet of the tank above your supply connection (so you don't get any supply water migrating up your cold line). Then add a small potable expansion tank on the coil side of your set-up.
Good Luck

brian's right
i do it that same way, but without the expansion tank. i wonder if we cold skip the pump and check valve and put a mixing valve to limit water temp.? bobTo learn more about this professional, click here to visit their ad in Find A Contractor.0 -
The EPA is mandating
municiple water systems add backflow prevention in residential applications. Here in Beautifull Sheffield Lake, Ohio, the meter guy can make the change without you having a clue. That is until the P/T valve on the DHW tank starts to leak.
I treat any DHW system as if it has backflow prevention, because if is does not it will have the protection. My water is your water, living on Lake Erie I fail to see the point.
