Not heating. Plumbing code question.

As a New York City plumber, I am allowed to discharge wastewater from a sump pump (ground water) into a trapped and vented fixture in a home's sanitary system.
Does the national code (New Jersey) allow the same method.
Thank you.

    Depends...

13.1.1 Drainage Required. Roofs, paved areas, yards, courts and courtyards shall be drained into a storm-sewer system or a combined sewer system where such systems are available.

13.1.2 Prohibited Drainage. Storm water shall not be drained into sewers intended for sanitary sewage only.

Combined sanitary/storm sewers are becoming more and more rare...it is really going to depend on the local system and their plans...

    John,
I don't think that it is a matter of the plumbing code.
You should check with the wasste water management entity whether ground water may be discharged into the sanitary sewer system. In the Chicagoland area we have The Metropolitan Sanitery District which prohibits any ground water or storm water from being discharged into the sanitary sewer system.
The exception to this rule is within the city limits where only a sanitary sewer exists, then ground water and storm water may be connected to the sanitary sewer but outside of the building.
Not sure that this helps you, but maybe it's a direction to investigate.
You might also just call the New Jersy Plumbing Inspector.

Good Luck and have a Dynamic Day
    George
