I was asked by tech at work to help write procedure book for install dept, since I am in install dept. I've been getting info off net for a while now- like books on this site and new products, etc. I've aslo acquired a number of books. I would like to use this reference material in the book, but don't know if copyrights apply to everything. Some are old and have no notice on pics, newer have all pics labeled. Since many of you have written real books, not co info books, do you know where I can find out about this ? Thanks for your help.

If you need to use
illustrations and text from OEM's don't be afraid to ask. Most are only to willing to help and consider it a compliment.
Always better to get permission.
If you get caught normally it's not the author or publisher you have to really worry about. You only pay them three times what it was worth.
Now the Feds, that's different, they'll put you in the hoosgow, fine you and really slap you around, no kidding!
The site Dan gave you has more info than you will ever need, good luck in your endeavor.0
