    Heat loss should be done

this will let you know how much baseboard will be needed for each room, also design temp has a big play in it as well, what are the settings on the boiler? if the boiler is not running hot enuff you will not get good convection from the baseboard. insulating the pipes in crawl spaces is always a good way to go. there are a lot of factors when it comes towhy rooms dont heat up well, but all can be fixed.. good luck,i hope this helps ..David S

    cold homeowner

Just curious as to where you live. Contractor may be right, depending on heat loss of structure and original design criteria used. Here in WNY, the company I work for designs to 70' indoor at 20' outdoor for the heating season. If the temperature falls below the design outdoor temp., then our equipment may struggle a little, especially during prolonged periods.

    is that the running

temp or the hi limet ???? good setting for limets are important. if there is a coil in the boiler, and you have a mixing valve you can set them at 170 - 190 15 on the diff. . if you running temp is 176 thats not that bad, if there is no coil go up to 200 on the hi limet.still get a heat loss ....David

    cold zones

Dave is right,a heat loss is the first step. It's possible the pump is not moving enough water through the system when all the zones call at the same time.Did you try running one zone at a time?
    LOL

    is the boiler limiting out?

Does your boiler shut down before the thermostats are satisfied. What are your supply and return temps?
  • insufficent heat in zones

yes,I switched zone 4 to priority for 1hr. with no help in temp.
  • boiler limit

yes, boiler max temp=176 it shuts down at that temp.then comes on at 155. with stats still calling. about 20" difference between supply and return. ps. circalator is on return side.

    Just a thought

What if the heats not going any place fast due to an air blockage. New system, new water, new air.
