Banging zone valves and PDV ?

We work on has a real problem with a Apt banging went the zones valve shuts off.
We have replaced the erie zone valve with a slow closing Taco valve. In the past we have done this with some success. The real issue, I belive, is that there is no preasure differential valve in the boiler room to adjust the flow when only one or two vavles are calling. That and the fact that hangers and insulation have fallen off in the walls ( we've opened some walls to explore).
Am I one the right track to tell them to install PRD valves in the boiler rooms . The exsiting pumps are Thrush series TV, model 1 1/2 TYIL, 48 gpm/37 head ft. There are roughly 29 units over three floors.
Thanks
Scott

It can't hurt...
but may not completely take care of the hammering. If there are valves installed backwards, they might still hammer.
Sometimes in buildings like this it's tough to make sure that all valves are in the correct flow position. It takes three guys, one at each end of the board with the zone valve on it feeling the pipe to see which pipe gets hot first, and the third guy to activate the thermostat. PITA for sure, but only correct way to guarantee proper installation.
If your guys replaced all the valves and put them in in the supposed correct position, they may have missed the fact that some of them have been installed backwards for the getgo.
Just food for thought...

Thanks Mark
Not really the answer I was hopping for but probable the right one. I believe we did have one that was backwards from the get go, but I beleive we checked this one after seeing one in backwards.
As you say the PDV can't hurt right ?
