R. W. Beckett/Oil Tech Talks
Burner Service Workshop
NORA Approved

Who's going to get the last 2 seats for the special burner workshop? The objective of this course is to teach the fundamentals of oil burners and their components. This program includes some theory, including cause and effects. This program also covers some of the ways know in the industry to diagnose the burner and its components properly. Its written and demonstrated in such a way that it can be taught to an entry level, technician and also serve as a great refresher course for the seasoned technician.

This session utilizes lecture, field examples, demonstrations, slides, handout materials, troubleshooting techniques and encourages technicians participation Well start the day with a full tour of R. W. Becketts facility. Then well move into the classroom for over head presentations and discussion Ill be your instructor during this portion. Then after lunch well move on to some hands on troubleshooting with fully operational oil burners and my diagnostic simulators, built for technicians.

1/2 the class will go into the lab where you'll have a first hand look at low emissions technology during a live demonstration. Then you will head to the labs workshop to build your own burners. You'll install them in a system in the lab and perform a full combustion analysis to see how you did. You'll even have the pleasure of having Jerry Herron work by your side with you. During this time the other 1/2 of the class will hang out with your friend in the industry, ME :) and well work our way through some trouble shooting on the simulators. Then of course well switch places with the other 1/2 of the class. So everyone gets to experience the whole days events.

Date: Tuesday March 4th 2003

Location:
R.W. Alan, I tried to email you,
...but I'm out of town this weekend at a seminar and can't seem to send any emails!
I just got called by one of my employees. His uncle passed away this morning, and they will be cremating the body and holding a memorial service on the same day as the Elyria seminar. Understandably, he will be attending the service, not the workshop.
I had prepaid his tuition fee with the registration I sent you, but will unfortunately be coming up one man short! Anything we can do? This will provide one more opening for the seminar if anyone else wants to get in on it. If we're stuck, I understand, but let me know.

Sorry to hear that
John, First Please allow me to extend my condolences to our fellow technician regarding the loss of his uncle. He and his family will be in my prayers.
As far as coming up a man short under these circumstances I will absolutely reimburse you for that. It's the only right thing to do. Would you like that mailed to you or shall I just give it to you in Ohio in person?
Your friend in the industry,
Alan R. Mercurio

Thanks...
...Whatever is easiest for you will be fine.
I will share your words with my tech, also, Alan, and thank you for your kindness. I met his uncle once, many years ago. He was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. Time and age had not been kind to him as of late, however, and his passing was very much a blessing from what I hear. We will all sleep well knowing he's in a better place now, free from pain and suffering.
