I was looking through our local architectural antiques place for a new radiator and saw this.

I assume this would have sat in a dining room and used as a warmer?

WOW
According to Dans book EDR, that is a Roman Dining Room Radiator. It was used for warming plates. Made by the J.L. Mott Iron Works.
That is way cool ( or hot ).

cool old radiator with plate warmer
I've seen those in the butlers' pantries when we go on historical society housewalks near Chicago. Pretty snazzy.0 -
I service a Women's Club which has a kitchen on all 3 floors, each kitchen has one of these rads that they still use to warm the plates.0
