I am in the market for a new gas fired hot water heater. Has anyone had dealings with either the Takagi or Paloma ones? Are they reliable? I need someone to install one in Brooklyn.
Thanks

    Tankless

I've installed the Takagi for domestic hot water. They have electronics, and lots of moving parts, and over the long haul I wonder how well they will hold up. They do kick butt as far as instantaneous go. Up to 5gal/min of hot water.

I 've installed Aqua Stars made by Bosh, and have one in my house as well. Very simple, very few moving parts-easy to work on. Many happy customers. 3gal/min

In Oregon, home owners get a tax credit for installation of high efficiency appliances. Paloma has never been on the OR Dept of Energy's list-that I can remember. Can't really help you out here except to say I've seem them in operation and they are very well made, costly , and you might not get the volumes your looking for.

    Hope this helps,

    SEISCO Tankless hot water

Hot water and steam are ALL I do. Try checking out the site for SEISCO.com.

Operating cost vs. efficiency are a tricky thing. Nothing beats electric for the money to install, run and have trouble free service.

Flow rates are CRITICAL. Get this right or else nothing will work.

Let me know if I can help.

You might also check out the Rinnai

They are getting up to 9 gallons at a 50 degree rise these days and are simular to the Takagi with its electronic controls. Be sure to get someone who is knowledgable to install these products. They look simple, but there are some important do's and don'ts with each. Good luck with your project.

    tankless

The AquaStar from Bosch is the ideal household gas water heater(tankless)especially the Modell 125HX. When the water flows through the hydro generator it spins a tiny turbine which produces the spark required to light the burner. In Germany where I come from, the companies Bosch and Junkers are very wellknown/famous for their quality of the products. Bosch/Junkers is producing since many years this kind of tankless heaters even with the combination water heater and a closed type heating system. Brillant. Rene.

    Tankless Nightmares......

I troubleshoot alot of tankless "problem" jobs where the installation was fine, it was the application and lifestyle of the inhabitants that made it a "problem" job.

The people who sell them should be trained in the applications but from the way my phone rings off the hook with problem jobs.......obviously they are not.

These are wonderful products and in the correct application give troublefree, economical, endless hot water.

I find FAR fewer problems with the SEISCO products than others.
