    We are snowbound

Here in Maryland. The weather service says we have had 2 feet of snow however it looks more like 3 to 4 around my house. Went out to Walmart early on in the storm and bought some jigsaw puzzles. Still snowing hard Mon morning. Our local snow plow people are not equipped for this kind of snow. Been 7 years since we've had anything like it. I prob wont get out until Wens. the way things are looking. You guys in Upstate NY probably handle this stuff all the time, but around here the city is closed for business. How much are you all getting???? WW

    We just got

sleet (mainly) and freezing rain. About 2" worth.

Just heard that 6 were killed in traffic accidents around here yesterday.

    Enjoy your puzzles!

  • We are looking

to get everything that was left over from you folks down in MD. Currently only 3" on the ground but another day and a half more promised. I am supposed to be in Fishkill, NY (along the Hudson) by 9:30 tomorrow morning. I'm leaving this morning instead to give myself a bit of time. Can't think of a better way to spend a day off!

    snow!

We've got about 2' with another 4-8" on the way. It was up over my truck bumpers when I pulled out of the driveway this morning. The city is closed & snow emergency routes are in effect.

    Not Quite snowbound

Here in Binghamton, we have about 7". Still snowing like crazy. Report says that the wind will start blowing 15-30 later in the day. We are expecting about 16-20" by midnight. Tomorrow will be an interesting day. Thank god that most schools already had the day off!

    Here in Maryland

Wanye I live in Northern MD in Carroll county, we had 20 inches of snow at 8 pm last night, and its still snowing. You are correct in saying that our snow removal plan is notsetup for this type of storm. There was just a big snowblower that came by and closed my driveway again. On back of a big tractor. I belong to the local fire department, we just got a call for a barn that had come down due to the snow with cows traped inside. I can't even get out and help. This is a big one. But we are nice and warm with our steam heat. We may get out sometime on Tuesday.

    Just Measured 13 inches

off my front porch. We had 4 inches Saturday so that's a total of 17 inches in the past 3 days.

1996 and 1983 were worse, but this storm may come close to the records they set.

Here in bad ol' Buffalo we got about 3-4" of powder. Although it's about 15F outside. I haven't run the snowblower but four times this year, dang it.

Please Send The Snow To Minnesota

We should have 3 feet on the ground by this time of year, but we are lucky to have 8". My snomobiles are crying, my pipes are freezing, and the ground is now frozen 9 feet down.

Send all your unwanted snow to Minnesota.... we'll put it to good use!

    Sorry Guys...

Here in the bannana belt (Kenai, Alaska) we have virtually NO snow. High school cross country ski races have been cancelled, the world championship sled dog races at Anchorage Fur Rendezvous had to be cancelled, the Iditarod sled dog race has to be started from Fairbanks...and many yards actually have green grass showing! go figure. Doors are blocked !

Shoveled yesterday when I got home from work. Gave it a quick blast before retiring., and this morning the doors are blocked . I'm looking at around 20" and the drifts are as high as 3' in some spots . The only saving grace is that this stuff is light . A bit easier on the back thatn the normal coastline dumps .

Hey Mr Milne ....I'll see you when I get out ! Chris

    Ended up

with 26 inches with drifts over 3 and 4 feet. I hear Boston has been promised 30 inches. Had no heat calls that I had to get out and do. My neighbors helped me dig out. I have a new all wheel drive Astro van that eats up the snow and spits it out. Only got stuck twice and was able to back up and try again. Customers were real happy to see me, and even happier to get their heat fixed. Have had a lot of calls where condensing furnaces have had their inlet pipes blocked by snow and I just tell them over the phone to clear the snow away and reset the furnace. One sucked in the snow and it turned to water and zapped the control board. Luckily had one on the truck. Having fun in MD. Wayco Wayne over and out.

    Wayne...

I too have the AWD Astro van . When I got to work this A.M. , I switched all my tools to it . The big van is nice for hauling everything I usually need , but the all wheel drive keeps me from being stranded in a customers driveway for extended periods .

P.S. I was the only nit-wit to show up this morning ! Beat the plow guys that do the parking area by a good hour ! Chris

Snow? Good thing it was a coastal storm.

We have snow from the 3-4' drifts to the one bare spot on my sidewalk,(where the wind took it to the 3-4'drift). Shoveled out the boss, said he was feeling "clastraphobic",and he sent us home. What a guy!

    No snow here

I'm in the same boat with Mark Eatherton, Colorado is in a pretty bad way as far as pricip. goes. We aren't going to come out of this drought unless we get what you Eastern seaboard folks are getting a couple of times over.
