I am renovating my 1,600sf house in Northport,Long Island with existing oil boiler and baseboard.

I plan to install radiant throughout and am considering converting to natural gas.

I want to know first of all if it will be cheaper to heat with natural gas, and, if so, what boilers do Keyspan offer. Do they give away only inefficient boilers so that you will use more gas?

Should I take the $500 rebate and buy a really high efficiency boiler like a Vitodens?

The house will be extremely well insulated with R-25 walls, R-50 roof, and double-glazed windows.

I would also like to know if anybody would like to bid on this project.

I plan to install the 1/2" pex myself, and I will need a "wet-head" to do all the beautiful copper sculpture work in the basement.

I'm thinking about Primary-Secondary with a variable speed injection pump and outdoor reset. I think I will have approximately 7 zones.
